Protecting Our Critical Ecosystems

Ecosystems support and sustain all life on the planet; none of us would have air to breathe, water to drink, or food to eat without healthy ecosystems.

Globally, all major types of ecosystems are being degraded or destroyed at alarming rates from decades of unsustainable activities.

Ecosystem degradation is a global crisis

60% of the Earth’s ecosystems including our forests, grasslands, deserts, tundra, freshwater, and marine have been degraded.

75% of the Earth’s land areas and 85% of the Earth’s wetlands have been significantly altered or degraded.  (UNEP)

3.2 billion people, or 40% of the global population have been impacted by the degradation of land ecosystems.  (UNEP)

Urgent need to act now

Countries have experienced an irreversible loss in biodiversity and the vital services ecosystems provide like food, clean air and water, medicine, climate stability, pollination, and more.

The UN estimates that 70% of these services have already been degraded; and over $300 billion is needed per year to preserve and restore global ecosystems.

There is an urgent need to scale-up global restoration projects to enhance food security, water supply, and biodiversity.

Our Mission

We envision an environment where healthy ecosystems are able to create positive environmental, social, and economic benefits for future generations.

Our mission is to support conservation projects that protect and restore degraded ecosystems so they can recover back to their most natural state.
